Felicidade - Princípios para viver melhor
Here are listed some of my thoughts, that motivates me in different kind of days
Wanna be happy?
Well... in that case don't take only my word on it, take the 85 years old Harvard study word:
- Time Magazine - The Secret to Happiness Is Helping Others
- Harvard Business School - Why Giving to Others Makes Us Happy
- An 85-year Harvard study found the No. 1 thing that makes us happy in life: It helps us 'live longer'
"Being good" for people is probably more about causing good for you then to others... And also don't ignore maslow piramid
About interactions with people
- Treat people well. Have empathy. Those who mistreat you or others are the ones who need help the most. People who are happy with their lives don't want to hurt anyone. Remember, you influence the world where the people you love the most are and will be.
- I'm simply and obviously not perfect, I need people feedback in order to improve myself faster
- Communication is: understanding and showing that you understood! Being understood and making sure that you were understood! You never "meant", "were misunderstood" or "misunderstood", they told you 'A' make sure you understood 'A', you said 'A' make sure they understood 'A'!
Learning and teaching - develop a master mind network!
- I like to surround myself with "master minds", very talented, skilled, and cool people that I can learn with and teach! And I believe that everyone can teach me something very usefull and interesting - including people in fields very different from mine!
- I value learning and teaching by "osmosis" through daily interactions
For when things gets hard
- Cycles, many kings became slaves, many came from nothing and triumphed, life is a cycle, nature is unfair, accept it. (stoicism)
- Sometimes life gets hard, and sometimes you can influence what "hard" do you choose, for example, if you don't choose the "hard" taking care of your health, you will choose the hard of being unhealthy later in life, you can pick your hard life
- Suffering is an opportunity to practice resilience, steel is forged in fire - but be careful when the sacrifice is chronic! Steel heats up and then cools down, some things are not meant to last long
- Let go of the things that are not under your control and try to work hard on the things that you can control. (stoicism)
- Utopias do not exist, perfection, stability, justice, are human desires and nature is not like that, accept it and know how to position yourself. (stoicism)
For when you need motivation
- Not being successful is "unethical" after all you will be taking care of people, maybe not now, but you certainly will. Be successful, people will depend on you. Not performing well and in an intelligent and sustainable way is not exploring your potential, review your thoughts, actions and relationships. Everything is interconnected, be attentive and aware in the present and have a vision for the future.
- No one "is" before "doing". "Do" and you "will be".
Money
- You want to have a good life, you don't want to be rich (wealthy vs rich), you use money to make exchanges, it is a means and not an end, being rich is having a lot of money, do you want to have a lot of money or do you want the things that this money can buy? If what you are doing to get this money is sacrificing a good part of your life to the point that the money is not able to "buy" what you want, rethink. If you still don't understand, you don't eat money, you eat what it buys.
- The most important and finite resource is time. Save your time, use money. Make your time worth more. If you spend a lot of time doing something, and the value of your time is enough to pay someone to do that thing and still have some left over, you'd rather pay someone. Time doesn't come back, money is cyclical (it comes back). Your time needs to be worth more, you should earn passively and actively (while you can earn actively).
- The less you understand and control money, the more it will control you.
